OUR #1 RULE: Everyone is safe and has fun.

 

LEAGUE RULES:

• NO CHECKING.

• NO FIGHTING.

• Defensive Zone Blue-Line Icing. (Icing will be called from defensive zone Blue-Line, not Center-Line)

• USA Hockey and Missouri Hockey rules apply except in cases where MEHL has imposed an alternate interpretation.

• League rules are subject to modification based upon changes in USA Hockey or Missouri Hockey rules.

• League Administration shall act as the final arbitrator in all disputes or protests involving the interpretation of the league playing rules. 

• Physical abuse of an official will result in expulsion from league play.

• Teams have a three minute warm-up plus an extra five minutes to have five (5) skaters and a goalie.  At the end of that time, the game will be forfeited by the short handed team.

• Forfeits are recorded as a 1 - 0 loss by the offending team.

• No games may end in a tie.  3 man shoot out, then a sudden death shoot out will determine the final score in all games ending regulation time in a tie.  No shooter can shoot twice until every player has shot once.

• No fighting allowed.  Players subject to expulsion from league.

• Three minor penalties in a game may result in the player being ejected from the game.

• Two game misconducts by any one player will result in suspension and/or expulsion after consideration of the facts.

 

GAME TIME:

• All games will be played in 1.25 hours.

• Three minute pre game warm-up.

• 1st and 2nd periods are 18:00 minute stop time.  Third period will be the remainder of time left in time slot as a running clock, then a stopped clock for the final 2 minutes of each game.

• Minor penalty                        2:00

• Major penalty                        5:00

• Misconduct penalty                10:00

 

EQUIPMENT & JERSEYS

• All players are required to wear full hockey equipment.  Helmets are required - facial protection is highly recommended.

• Players not wearing the required equipment will be assessed a minor penalty and will not be allowed to play until the proper equipment is in place.

• Teams must have official MEHL numbered jersey.  The Home Team will wear “light” colors and the Visiting Team will wear “dark” colored jerseys.

 

ROSTER & PLAYER STATUS

• All players must be 18 or older at the time of registration.

• Suspended Players are not eligible for Playoff Rounds.

• Players must have played in a minimum of 30% of league games to be eligible for the playoffs.

• No players will be allowed to play for any team who have not paid league fees and purchased the Official MEHL Jersey.

TIE BREAKERS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS

• Head-to-head competition results.

• Most “goals for”.

• “Goals for” minus “Goals against” (Biggest surplus)

• Coin toss.
